Sometime back in 2007, in conversation with a friend, the topic of joining Weight Watchers came up. It sounded like a wonderful idea to me because I had been battling with my weight for a while now. After weeks of excuses and putting it off, we finally joined February 27, 2007. That was a day I will never regret.
I was born your typical healthy 6 lb 8.5 oz. baby girl back in the late 60's. In 1990, when I got married, I was a "still healthy" 5 feet 5.5 inches, 126 lb. 20 something year old with no thoughts of what kind of garbage I was putting in to my body, nor what my future children would do to my somewhat tiny hourglass figure.
If I knew then what I know now, I would have avoided all of those junk food binges during pregnancy, that is for sure! My kids would have grown up loving fruits and vegetables because that, along with lean meats & whole grains would have been all they knew. Each time we would pass a McDonald's or Burger King, I would come up with some horribly scary story about what was REALLY in the Big Mac or Whopper. I don't know what I would say but it would NOT have been appealing.
Okay, so back to my first weigh in...
...this once skinny, blushing bride had become a BEAST over the years! Bad habits combined with no excercise had not only cause my health to deterioriate but had caused me to gain an average of 4.25 lbs per year for a grand total of 72.2 lbs! I weighed in at 198.2 lbs. Okay, so it was less that I weighed the Christmas before...I was a little happy about that but still, I had and still have a longgggg way to go.
Since I am looking back on over a years worth of successes and failures, I will be playing catch up with my blogging and eventually, I will get to where I am today.
Keep checking back to see what then next "weigh" will bring!!
